People have said some nice things about working with me. But if you’re thinking about working with me, please give me a call or send me a message. We can meet in person and you can find out for yourself if we’d make a good team.

Ophelia Syndrome - Shades of Grey Working with Michael was the best decision that we have ever made as a band, and that is not an exaggeration! Michael is first and foremost an amazing engineer, with a vast knowledge of all things musical, and has an incredible ear. Because of his skill, knowledge, and keen ear, he can pick-up on fine details which is very important when recording. Not only is he talented, but his strong work ethic, and dedication are unmatched with anyone we have ever come across. Michael is also a wonderful human being, which is important when working together hour upon hour. He made us feel at ease, while pushing us to give the best that we could. I can honestly say that our EP would not have been what it is without Michael. He is supportive, and most importantly he cares.

—Deanna Wells, vocalist and pianist for Ophelia Syndrome

The Rest - Everyone All At Once Michael was simply incredible to work with. I’m not overstating. During the making of our (The Rest) album Everyone All At Once Michael’s work ethic was not only relentless, but also contagious. His obvious love to for music, and his positive attitude is palatable from the first minutes you work with him, and doesn’t waiver during the whole process. I feel that our record was exponentially better because of his involvement, and wouldn’t hesitate to use him in future musical endeavors. We are a large group of seven people, and were usually all present during the majority of recording, and Michael non stop attention to detail was inspiring for everyone. Details may not usually be categorized as inspiring, but when you’re trying to push boundaries those details can be the most important aspect. They let you expand on ideas, see more layers, and capture pure moments. We came in a well-rehearsed band, and left much more aware of our own music.

—Adam Bentley, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist for The Rest

Money on the Dead Michael Chambers is a wizard! He works fast and efficiently and most importantly, really listens to the whims of the artist. The atmosphere was always lighthearted when working with Michael which is conducive to creativity. The guy is young and knowledgeable and has a good ear! And he plays a mean glockenspiel!

—Jeff Brett, vocalist and guitarist for Money On The Dead

Sparkling White - EP The first thing I will say is that our demo sounds exactly how we wanted it to sound. The guitars are clean and sparkly, the drums are punchy, the bass is defined but huge and the vocals cut through the mix perfectly. I remember thinking at one point, “wow, I’m really really glad we have a guy like Mike on our team… he’s such an engineer/mixing geek… that I’m sure we’re going to have a great recording!!!” and we do. I’ve heard demos/EPs by other bands who spent a lot more money than we did… but their recordings sounded horrible. I’d record a full album with Mike Chambers in a second.

—Simon DeSilva-Naimji, guitarist/singer for Sparkling White

Michael is one of those rare people with an infinite amount of patience, a calm demeanor, and an inherent ability to keep the client happy, and keep smiling himself. Working with him is always fun, yet with a degree of professionalism that keeps the session moving forward efficiently. He has a knack for capturing an artist’s “sound.” It may be crystal clean, or it may be dirty and grungy, but what ever it is, it is a sonic quality that fits the artist like a well tailored suit.

—Jacob King, independent recording engineer and producer, A Planned Escape

Scott Cooper - Tiny Increments I worked with Michael as a mix consultant to help me take my mixes to the next level. No matter the issue I encountered, with Michael’s guidance and expertise, we always found a great solution that taught me something new, and most importantly, it always made a dramatic impact on the quality of the mix.

Scott Cooper, singer-songwriter

Relaying one’s ideas when it comes to audio recordings can be difficult. Trying to decipher all the intangible sounds we hear in our heads to someone else can be like speaking a foreign language. Michael Chambers has a real talent for knowing his equipment, its tricks and limitations, and has the patience and inventiveness to help musicians realize these sounds.

—Dan Gorman, guitarist/singer for inUniform

As a recording engineer and electronic musician I’ve had a lot of experience working with the tools of music production. I will freely admit that the whole creative process can suffer from working with complex software. This is where Michael Chambers truly shines as an engineer and producer. Michael’s command and thorough understanding of the technology allows the focus to be on the music. Michael’s combination of technical ability, musical sense and his excellent ear make him one of the most well rounded audio engineers I have had the pleasure of working with.

—Dorian Williamson, bassist and recording engineer for Holoscene

The Golden Dogs - Everything In 3 Parts Michael Chambers was the first person I ran into in Toronto that really knew what he was doing in the recording studio. He’s one of those people perfectly suited to the process as he has a natural feel for experimentation and exploration.

—Dave Azzolini, guitarist/singer for The Golden Dogs

Ministry of the Environment - An EP Having worked with Michael for many years, I can say with full confidence that Michael’s recording abilities are top-notch. Michael was able to produce two awesome-sounding records with only a computer and a few mics. Now that I’ve started making my own recordings, I’ve come to realize just how good Michael is.

—Rory Lindsay, lead guitarist for Ministry of the Environment and formerly of Showroom
